Breaking the Silence

From the 9/13 Show – Finding Solace in the Plight of the Message

The Prescription Addiction Radio Show – Breaking the Silence has evolved from an angry father buying air time on a small radio station in Clearwater three years ago to “scream” about a doctor who put thousands of pills onto our streets to a show that intends to bring a discussion about drugs to America.  My most loyal listener has heard a radio show evolve.

I remain grateful to the bands Thrown Alive and Kore and the single performer, Michael Glenn who allow me to play their music on the breaks.  Nicole and Montana faithfully come to the radio studio every Sunday.  Glenn Roberson, the Commissioner of the Definitive Wrestling League has become a faithful contributor.  They all realize that the damage from both legal and illegal drugs is continuing to create damage and destruction in societies around the world (Mexico the most notable).

Our success in the discussion about drugs will come from young and old talking about it face to face.  Although all who participate agree that a solution needs to be searched for concerning drugs in our country, the discussion is more vital than agreement.  The radio show is an attempt to bring all to the table on the topic.

At the midbreak Sunday night I played some excerpts from a You Tube piece that has Bill O’Reilly from Fox News and Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House recognizing the drug problem in our country.  The recording was from an April, 2009 show.  The piece finished with Newt Gingrich stating, “We need a national discussion on drugs”.

The radio show finds solace in knowing that if two highly visible national media figures have not succeeded in creating a national discussion then patience must be adhered to in growing the radio message.
