The show started by playing the 2001 song by System of a Down called “The Prison Song”. The song has powerful lyrics that relate that drugs were no longer limited to the inner cities after the civil rights movement in the 60’s. The response has been more prisons.
The lyrics: “I buy my crack, my smack, my bitch, Right here in Hollywood“ symbolizes the change in the distribution of drugs over the last 40 years. The response to the increased and easy access to drugs into middle America has been more arrests, more prisons and more disrupted lives. The radio show is the only show in America that cuts through the hypocrisy of the message between legalization and incarceration. Legalization and decriminalization bring more addiction and incarceration brings more excuses for a failed drug policy in our country. The Prescription Addiction Radio Show - Breaking the Silence
