Show started with the full version of Grace Slick’s White Rabbit performed by the Jefferson Airplane in 1967. The song White Rabbit is very symbolic for the radio show. For most of the baby boomers, who remember that song when it became a top 10 seller over forty years ago, most of the drugs that were damaging people’s lives and families at that time were considered illegal. ……….Remember the famous lyrics in the beginning of the song; “And the ones that mother gives you……Don't do anything at all“. The radio show reminds us that times have changed! The drugs today that are within the reach of mother and child are more addictive and deadly than ever before……..Oxycodone (OxyContin) can be interchangeable with heroin and the active ingredients in Ritalin and Adderall can be interchanged with speed and cocaine……… Almost every college student knows that!
Forty years ago Vicodin, Percocet, OxyContin, Ritalin, Adderall, Prozac and Zoloft weren‘t household names and that is why I think this radio show is so important………. This show explores legal drugs and the damage and destruction they are creating in today‘s society……………The Baby Boomers remain clueless…….………..The Prescription Addiction Radio Show - Breaking the Silence
